Small Business: Starting a Business: Good Personal Credit is a Necessity
Friday, December 29 @ 00:00:00 CST by mitet (145 reads)
If you are thinking about starting your own business, banks will look at your personal credit history if you have no business credit history. Thus, credit scores are more important than ever. While banks previously determined whether to lend to a business or not by looking at your credit, the business's potential, any collateral you may offer, and your personal career history, this process has become extremely condensed in order to process more applications and level out the bank's risk, so without excellent credit, you might find yourself denied a business loan.

Start by getting a tax identification number for your business, which helps separate your business credit history and your personal credit history - an important step in building your business credit and helping to launch your business. If you have bad credit, separating your business from your personal credit is crucial. You can do this by applying for a tax identification number for your business, but also by securing a business office address and phone, as well as a business bank account.

Larger and better-known financial institutions often automate their credit application processes now, and having a less than average personal credit score and no business credit history will hurt your chances of obtaining a loan. Try smaller, hometown banks, which are more likely to view you personal credit score while factoring in the potential of the business. Some lenders focus on high-risk loans for entrepreneurs. These loans often start with high interest rates, with the understanding that increased business cash flow can lower the rate. Depending on the amount of your start-up costs, you can also consider opening up a business credit line to help with initial expenses.

Another option in obtaining money is opening up a home equity loan. This may be a risky option, depending on the viability of your business. Home equity loans are loans taken out against your home. These loans can give you the start-up cash necessary to fund your business at relatively low interest rates, but depending on the strength of your business, you could lose your house if your business fails.

Once you have a tax identification number for your business, you can begin building your business's credit history and score. You can do this by paying any business bills on time, especially your business credit cards. The national credit reporting agencies have also developed a credit report for businesses, and this will allow you to better track your business's credit. By maintaining good personal credit, you can start off with good credit in the business world as well.

Alternative cholesterol-lowering medicines
Wednesday, November 08 @ 19:17:03 CST by mitet (209 reads)
mitetGuest writes "Alternative Cholesterol-lowering Medicines
You see commercials daily for cholesterol-lowering prescription medications. In fact, if you have seen your doctor about high cholesterol, then he has probably discussed one of these drugs with you. There are alternatives, however, and many you can get over the counter. Most alternative cholesterol-lowering medicines are natural supplements you can find in any health food or vitamin store. If you are considering taking an over-the-counter supplement or drug, you should consult your decisions with your doctor as any medication you are currently on may interact with an over-the-counter drug.

One supplement that is known to reduce cholesterol levels is red rice yeast. Red rice yeast contains a statin drug, which are used in nearly all prescription cholesterol-lowering drugs out today. Another common supplement thought to help lower cholesterol is Vitamin B3 or Niacin. Niacin helps to lower LDL levels while raising HDL levels. There are side effects associated with Niacin, though, such as nausea or liver damage. If you choose to take Niacin, you should certainly consult with your physician. Pantethine, a form of Vitamin B5, is also proven to lower cholesterol. In comparison to other alternative medicines, it is said to be highly effective in lowering triglyceride levels. In addition, guggul is an extract from a tree native to India which has been proven to lower LDL levels while increasing HDL levels. Some even claim that guggul can lower your cholesterol as much as prescription drugs do.

Beyond these supplements, there are herbs and foods that can help lower cholesterol. Garlic has been shown to effectively reduce cholesterol levels. One clove a day or an equivalent amount is the recommended dosage. If you do not like garlic, you can take garlic supplements, available in health food stores or vitamin shops. Recently, grape skins and seeds have also been proven to lower cholesterol levels. Thus, grapeseed oil and even wine can help with your cholesterol problem. Soy is also thought to reduce cholesterol levels because of its high polyunsaturated fats and its ability to limit the amount of cholesterol in your bloodstream.

In researching alternative medicines for lowering cholesterol, you will find that many of these drugs are available in health food stores or vitamin shops. If you are considering adding one of these alternatives to your diet, please remember that the Food and Drug Administration does not oversee the purity of vitamins or supplements available over-the-counter. Many with high cholesterol swear by these natural remedies, but you should consult your physician when you begin taking any of these drugs to ensure that you do not accidentally mix drugs which may cause harmful side effects.

Finance & Investment: Good Credit: How Do You Establish It?
Wednesday, November 08 @ 19:16:04 CST by mitet (122 reads)
mitetGuest writes "
At some point in everyone's life, it is required to advance from having no credit to building good credit in order to secure your financial future. Whether you are trying to rent your first apartment or applying for a loan to make a large purchase, you will need to have a good credit history to your name so that the person you are working with knows that you are a reliable and trust-worthy investment. Unfortunately, most people do not know how to establish credit.

Bad credit is much more serious than most people understand. You could be denied loans and have trouble with various other financial institutions because you will be immediately labeled as a "risk." Identity theft has become a recently common reason for false negative credit to your name. It is an unfortunate circumstance, but don't think anyone will go easy on you. If you put it into perspective, you wouldn't loan money to a friend who has been slow to repay others in the past. Unreliability will be the first thing that people notice, not the excuses, no matter how good they are.

The key is to be knowledgeable of safe ways to build credit without risking the mistakes that will inevitably result in a bad credit history. For instance, your parents could put one of their monthly household bills in your name while you are still in high school. If this bill is always paid on time, you will gain good credit. However, it is vital to understand that if they miss any payments, it could get you started on the wrong foot.

Stability is another factor that plays into your worth to creditors.

Keeping the same job for 2 years or longer and having a stable checking or savings accounts with a bank are a perfect example of having a stable cash flow and responsibility with finances. Making deposits and keeping your balance at a positive number with a bank account and having a steady income show that you are less of a risk to miss payments or leave town to avoid facing collectors. Your address, bank, positive bill payment history, and employment information can be added to your credit report at your request if it is not already present.

Credit is an important part of everyone's adult life. Good credit will assist you in being accepted for automobile, home, and personal loans. If your credit score is bad, you will often be rejected for loans because you will be labeled as a risk and it is assumed that you may not be willing or able to reimburse the loan. Building good credit early can be an easy head start in the right direction for your financial future.
